WEDDING: Picking Up a Wedding Motif and Theme

“In our life there is a single color, as on an artist’s palette, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the color of love.” – Marc Chagall

Have you ever experienced attending a wedding where as you stand in line at the buffet area, waiting for your turn to get food, your eyes can’t help but wander around? What are the things that you have noticed?

Flowers, table arrangements, drapery, ribbons, candles, colors – all these are components of your wedding design. Commonly, the design is patterned to an over-all motif or theme of a wedding. Your wedding design could also be as important as what you feed your guests. It is what appears on your video and wedding pictures. It is what sets the vibe of your celebration. A good design is not totally dependent on how much money you have, but on how much effort you exert on planning – or for some, finding the right people to do it.

When more colors aren’t enough to explain or describe the ambience you want for your celebration, wedding theme can help you make it happen.

A wedding theme pertains to a specific idea or concept that you want for your wedding. It can be inspired by a favorite movie, a particular era, your sense of style, or something that you really love to do – like travel.

Choosing your wedding theme need not be a complicated task. One important thing you may want to ask yourself thought is this: “Does our wedding theme reflect our personality as a couple?”

Three popular Wedding Themes are: Beach Theme, Garden Theme, and Winter Wonderland Theme.

During the early part of the planning period, Gary and I chose to have a Red and Gold wedding motif. But it has changed when I have once dropped by one bridal shop in the city and saw how stunning Teal Green gowns are. We have then considered Teal Green as the main color motif and thinking to have it paired up with a Light Pink accent bringing a calm and vivid wedding environment.

YES! The teal green color motif is just a perfect choice because this year’s lucky color is Green! And because our wedding day falls down on a Summer, the choice of a vibrant color motif is just right.

By then, I was thinking that having a wedding theme can only be afforded by richy rich couples J So, we are only looking at a wedding motif. *____*

Two months after, we’ve met Ms. Clay Tan, an event stylist. She introduced to us different possibilities in order to have our dream wedding come true (in less expense).

True, indeed, it made us more excited for our wedding.  ^_^

I will be telling more about our wedding theme after our wedding day.

Hehehehe!

WEDDING: Choosing The Date

Hello Readers!

Some might wonder how Gary and I come up with our wedding date. J

You might assume that picking up a date for your wedding is just an easy and effortless task. Well, you go wrong. Hahahaha! I will tell you why.

There are so many aspects/factors to consider upon choosing a date for your wedding. We very well know that we, Filipinos, are very inclined traditionally and evidently have several of beliefs.

So upon choosing a wedding date, we need to consider; 1) Our Traditions 2) Our Families’ Beliefs 3) The season 4) lastly, the availability of the guests.

For traditions, there are some Filipinos believe in “Sukob”. It is believe that if you and one of your immediate relatives, especially sisters or cousins, will get married on the same year, one will be lucky and one will have a bad luck.

For beliefs, you can browse on the internet the one mile list of Filipino beliefs about weddings. There is one belief I can clearly remember out of those many that were listed in one site, it says: Couples who are getting married one or two days before FULL MOON will be showered with overflowing blessing and abundance.

For the Season, here in the Philippines, we only have two seasons, the SUMMER and the RAINY season. More likely, we’ve experienced rainy days/months during June to December and hot months on the first half of the year. I believe it is better to avoid getting married on a rainy season so that rain wouldn’t ruin your most special day.

Lastly, the availability of guests, I have still included this because this factor also has affected our choice of wedding date. Both Gary and I wanted to invite everyone so close to us without impeding their personal schedules.

You know, for modern couple like Gary and I, it is obvious that we are so unknowledgeable about that traditions and beliefs. So upon talking and planning about settling down, we have directly chosen our desired date. The first date that comes into our mind is the June 8, 2013. Because I wanted to become a June bride and I just love the number 8, and etc! J

… BUT it didn’t work out! *_____*

One day, my mom have told me to ask for a 2013 Calendar from a relative who has a printing press shop who’s by November 2012 starts printing a 2013 calendar. I wonder why she asked me to. Later did I know that she was looking for a date with a FULL MOON and the schedule of High tide.

At first, I just laugh at what Mama is doing and we even tried to contradict with her beliefs. Because, for sure, the June 8 date that Gary and I wanted will be postponed or will be moved earlier or later. In the 2013 calendar, June 8 is the schedule for a NEW Moon which means, there will be no moon on that day.

Gary and I were depressed for a moment until someone said that, “Sunod nalang mo ana kay wala bitaw mawala kung mag-too-too ta ana!” So that opens our mind into setting aside the June 8 date, instead look and search for another good date. We’ve come up with so many dates to choose from; May 25, June 22, July 20 and etc.

Luckily, everyone in the family agreed for the May 25 date. Because aside from it is exactly FULL MOON and a Saturday, it is also a summer, no classes for Gary’s Dad and relatives who are Teachers, and of course for guests that are still going to school. Moreover, May 25 is Gary’s grandfather’s death anniversary. Voluntarily, his Lola agreed to that and just wanted to have a double celebration.

THAT’S IT!

SAVE-THE-DATE
25TH OF MAY, 2013
